The short version

1. Who we are
Bituin is an independent app made and published by Jedd Lim, an individual developer based in the Philippines ("we", "us"). We are the personal information controller for the data described here. This policy covers the Bituin app on iOS and Android, the web version at bituin-app.expo.app and the website at bituin.app. On the Apple App Store and Google Play, Bituin is listed under Jedd Lim's own developer accounts, and this policy applies the same way on both stores.
2. Using Bituin without an account
You can use Bituin's daily readings, weekly outlook, compare, streaks and saves without signing in. In that case Bituin saves a few things in your device's own app storage, and none of it is sent to us or to anyone else:

To delete it, tap Burahin ang data ko in Ako, uninstall the app, or clear its storage. Any of these deletes it. We can't restore it, because we never had a copy.
3. If you create an account
An account keeps your Bituin safe if you change or lose your phone, and it is needed for Premium. When you create one, we collect:

We don't receive your password for Apple, Google, Facebook or TikTok. Those services confirm who you are and tell us only what you allow them to share. If they offer your name or profile photo, we don't use it unless you choose to put it on your profile.
We process this information because you asked us to create and run your account, and on your consent, which you can withdraw by deleting the account.
4. Birth time and place
A full birth chart needs your exact birth time and birthplace. We only ask for these if you choose to use the birth-chart feature, and we ask for your consent when you enter them. We use them only to calculate and show your chart. We never show them on your profile, share them with other users, or use them for anything else.
You can remove your birth time and place at any time without deleting your account.
5. Premium and payments
If you subscribe to Premium, payment is handled by the App Store, Google Play, or another payment provider we name at checkout (such as GCash or Maya). We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active.
We receive your subscription status, plan, renewal dates and a transaction ID. We never receive or store your card number, bank details or wallet login. Those stay with the payment provider.
6. Public profile and friends
If you choose to make a profile, other people can see the handle you pick, your avatar and the cosmetics you've earned, and your sign if you choose to show it. You add friends only by sharing your profile link or QR code, and a friendship needs both people to accept.
Your email, birthday, birth time and place, and device details are never shown on your profile. Bituin has no open user search, no contact-book matching, no messages and no feeds. You can hide your profile, unfriend, block or report someone at any time.
7. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't show ads, and we don't share your information with advertisers or use it to track you across other apps and websites.
- We don't access your contacts, photos, microphone or precise location.
- We don't send your personal information to AI services. Readings are written ahead of time and picked by your sign and the date.
8. Reminders and sharing
Reminders. If you turn on the daily reminder, Bituin asks your permission and schedules the notification on your device. It is not sent from a server. You can turn it off in the app or in your device settings at any time. If we ever send notifications from a server, we'll ask first and update this policy.
Sharing. When you share a reading, streak or retrograde card, Bituin makes an image on your device and hands it to the app you pick, such as Messenger or Instagram. What happens next is covered by that app's privacy policy.
Compare invites. When you invite a friend to compare signs, Bituin makes a link that carries your sign, the compare mode and, only if you type one, a nickname, and hands it to the app you pick. We don't receive or store any of it; your nickname stays on your phone so the next invite is prefilled. Anyone who has the link can see what's in it. If your friend opens it on our website, the website's host records standard request details, including the link.
Ratings. After a 7-day streak, Bituin may ask once whether you'd like to rate it. The rating window belongs to the App Store or Google Play. We don't see who rated or what they wrote, except reviews you choose to post publicly on the store.
9. Services we use
We use a small number of providers to run Bituin. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside the Philippines. When that happens, we require them to protect it to a standard comparable to Philippine law.
10. How long we keep data, and deleting your account
- Without an account: data stays on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
- With an account: we keep your data while your account is open. You can delete your account from Ako in the app, or by emailing us. We delete your account data within 30 days, including from backups.
- Purchases: records of payments may be kept longer by us, the app stores and payment providers where tax or accounting law requires it.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings first.
11. Security
Account data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access controls, so only you (and the systems that run your account) can read it. Sign-in tokens are kept in your device's secure storage. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.
12. Children and teens
Bituin is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before creating an account or subscribing. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Your rights
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), you have the right to be informed, to access your data, to correct it, to object to its processing, to have it deleted or blocked, to get a copy you can take elsewhere, and to complain.
- Change your sign, birthday and preferences in the app.
- Delete everything Bituin keeps on your device with Burahin ang data ko in Ako, or, once accounts exist, delete your account and its data there.
- For anything else, such as a copy of your data, email us. We'll reply within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the National Privacy Commission. If you live outside the Philippines, you may have similar rights under your local law, and you can use the same contact below.
14. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy before we add a feature that collects new kinds of information. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
